The Secretariat of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council declared on Friday that Tehran will implement specific countermeasures previously outlined if the United States breaches or violates the terms of the current agreement.

In an official statement released by state media, the Secretariat expressed appreciation for the message delivered by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei to the Iranian people. It affirmed its commitment to follow his directives, particularly those concerning "the protection of the rights of the Iranian people and the Resistance Front, safeguarding the blood of martyrs, and proceeding with upcoming negotiations in a manner that serves the interests of the Islamic Republic."

The statement further indicated that the Supreme National Security Council regards the United States with "complete distrust" due to what it described as the US's "record of breaking promises and agreements." It emphasized that if the US commits any breach or violation, Iran will carry out the "predefined countermeasure" according to the established plan.

The Council underscored its firm stance on defending the country's interests and confirmed its ongoing efforts until "the full rights of the Iranian people are fulfilled."

Previously, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei had announced his approval of the memorandum of understanding signed between Iranian President Masoud Pezhikian and his American counterpart Donald Trump. He stressed the "necessity of preserving Iran's rights and national interests and maintaining vigilance against any US violations or additional demands."

In his message, Khamenei stated that "although he preferred a different option in principle, he consented to the memorandum after Pezhikian, as head of the Supreme National Security Council, pledged on his own behalf and on behalf of the Council members to protect the rights of the Iranian people and the interests of the Resistance Front, assuming full responsibility for this."

Khamenei added that President Pezhikian also affirmed he would not accept any further American demands or "violations," noting that "from now on, the Iranian people and leadership will closely monitor the fulfillment of the commitments and conditions pledged."
