Iran's parliament is reviewing a draft law that would prohibit American, Israeli, and other 'hostile' vessels from passing through the Strait of Hormuz, with fines up to 20% of a ship's cargo value for violations.
The semi-official Iranian news agency Fars reported, citing a lawmaker, that an Iranian parliamentary committee is studying a preliminary bill aimed at blocking American, Israeli, and other ships labeled as 'hostile' from passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the agency, the bill proposes imposing fines reaching up to 20% of a vessel's cargo value in case of violation of the proposed restrictions.
The lawmaker noted that the legislation is still under expert review, and the parliament has invited specialists to submit recommendations before finalizing the bill's wording.
