Iranian President Behshehian Leaves Khamenei Funeral in Iraq After US Strikes
Iranian President Masoud Behshehian departed Iraq early Wednesday after attending former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's funeral amid new US military strikes on Iran.

Iranian President Masoud Behshehian left the funeral ceremony for former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Iraq early Wednesday and returned to Iran following a series of new military strikes by the US Army against Iran.
Behshehian had arrived in the Iraqi city of Najaf to attend the funeral of the late leader, who was assassinated by Israel at the start of the recent war, after the arrival of the body in the city earlier on Tuesday.
The official Iranian news agency IRNA reported that Behshehian departed Najaf during the early hours of Wednesday local time after completing his visit to Iraq.
The announcement of Behshehian's departure from Iraq coincided with the US Army's declaration of conducting a series of new military strikes on Iran in response to attacks targeting commercial ships near the Strait of Hormuz.
The US targeted Iranian air defense systems, surveillance installations, and missile sites, as shown in video footage.
