Israel Prepares for Space Wars: Military Plan to Develop Satellites and Offensive Capabilities

Israel’s Ministry of Defense is preparing a broad program to develop military capabilities in space, encompassing satellite protection, updating intelligence and communications systems, as well as exploring the development of offensive space capabilities.

According to "Jerusalem Post," the plan includes allocating a separate budget for offensive space activities and enhancing the army’s ability to gather intelligence through multiple satellites operating 24/7 under all weather conditions.

Israel also aims to establish a flexible space communication network enabling continuous data transmission during military operations, alongside developing means to protect its satellites from potential threats and others capable of targeting ground locations from space.

These plans come after the 12-day war between Israel and Iran, which reinforced the Israeli military’s reliance on satellites for intelligence gathering and building a target database.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant called for accelerating the development of space capabilities, aiming to position Israel among the world’s top five most advanced nations in this field, arguing that space will provide the military with an advantage in future conflicts.

Israel also relies on satellites equipped with synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology, which enables capturing images and intelligence data day and night, even under cloudy conditions, enhancing its surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.

Israeli officials note that ambitions extend beyond improving imaging capabilities, aiming instead toward achieving what they describe as "security dominance in space" and ensuring operational freedom for the military and security apparatus in the future.
