The Israeli military announced on Sunday that it is developing a strategy based on readiness for a surprise war, emphasizing permanent alertness to prevent and prepare for unexpected events.

The Israeli army reported on Sunday that it is building a strategy based on readiness for a surprise war, affirming that the army is in a state of permanent alert to prevent surprises and prepare for them.
The army clarified in a statement that "the Glilot camp witnessed a meeting of its senior commanders to discuss absorbing lessons learned from the October 7 events, headed by Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, with the participation of leaders from all commands, wings, and branches of the Israeli army."
Zamir said: "We are studying the extent of absorbing lessons learned from the October 7 investigations, realizing the magnitude of the failure, while at the same time recognizing the necessity of not stopping there, but learning from them, extracting lessons, improving, and moving forward. The October 7 events still haunt us, and our duty is to ensure they do not repeat."
Zamir added that the Israeli army is working to improve its capabilities and raise its level of war readiness.
He noted that the army is building a strategy based on readiness for a surprise war, including thwarting serious threats as soon as they emerge.
Zamir clarified: "Anyone who threatens to harm us and builds the necessary capabilities for that, we will act preemptively and deliver a decisive blow."
He indicated that: "One of the most important lessons we have learned is the necessity of expanding the scope of security. The State of Israel is geographically small in area and lacks land depth, making it vulnerable to multi-domain threats. Therefore, we need to build strategic capabilities for the Israeli army to face all challenges and threats. The size of the Israeli army is our strategic depth, so we must increase its size and adapt it to its growing tasks."
He also affirmed that "the entire Israeli army is in a state of permanent alert. We are all on standby. Our duty is to prevent surprises and prepare for them. We are living through a period of tension and vigilance, and every individual in their sector must be alert and prepared."
