An Israeli man from Tel Aviv was found dead in Finland one week after he went missing; preliminary police findings suggest he was struck by a passing vehicle while cycling, and investigations remain ongoing.

Finnish authorities discovered the body of an Israeli national from Tel Aviv one week after he was reported missing. According to initial information received by local police, investigators estimate the man was struck by a passing vehicle while riding a bicycle. However, the exact circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation, and the full details of the incident that led to his death in unclear conditions have not yet been established.
Authorities launched a broad search operation shortly after contact with the Israeli man was lost approximately one week ago. His remains were located today. Finnish police continue their inquiry to determine the complete sequence of events related to the incident and to establish whether any party bears responsibility.
Upon receiving notification of the incident, the international unit of the Israeli organization ZAKA initiated coordination with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the deceased’s family, and local Finnish authorities. The aim is to facilitate the necessary procedures for the release and repatriation of the body to Israel. The Israeli consul in Helsinki is also assisting, in cooperation with ZAKA, to expedite these arrangements. Per the family’s wishes, the deceased is expected to be buried in Safed.
Haim Weinberger, Deputy Director of Operations at ZAKA, confirmed that the organization has supported the family since the moment the report was received. ZAKA is working alongside Finnish authorities to ensure the dignified and timely return of the body. He emphasized that the international unit will maintain coordination with all relevant parties until all formalities are completed and the deceased is returned to his homeland.
