'It's sinking' – Argentina's president launches sharp attack on Europe

Argentina's President Javier Milei delivered sharp criticism of Europe ahead of his upcoming visit to France, claiming the continent is "sinking" due to overregulation, migration, and what he termed "woke ideology."

In an interview with French channel LCI broadcast on Monday, Milei said Europeans dislike U.S. President Donald Trump because, in his words, Trump "tells the truth about Europe's sinking."

The Argentine president argued that Europe is sinking due to what he described as a "distorted welfare state," excessive regulatory burdens, a "serious" migration crisis, and the "catastrophic consequences" of "woke ideology."

He added: "If people don't wake up, Europe won't return to what it once was for the West."

Milei praised Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, stating they "understand this situation."

He noted the world is dividing between the United States, Russia, and China, emphasizing he has aligned himself with Washington and Israel, which he said embody "the values that made the West great," according to his statement.

He asserted that "Europe's capital is not Brussels but Rome," citing historical considerations, while criticizing Brussels for "symbolizing Europe's decline, woke vision, welfare state mindset, and slow march toward socialism," in his words.

He added: "It's a painful death, slow and lacking courage."

Milei reiterated Argentina's longstanding claim to the Falkland Islands, affirming Buenos Aires seeks their restoration from the United Kingdom through diplomatic means, not military force.
