Kepler Data Shows Hormuz Transit Drops to Five Ships Daily
Kepler shipping data released Monday shows five daily vessels crossed the Strait of Hormuz early this week amid ongoing attacks, with traffic limited to small-sized ships including two LPG carriers.
Shipping data released Monday by Kepler indicates that just five bulk cargo vessels were observed transiting the Strait of Hormuz at the start of this week, as commercial operators proceed with heightened caution following continued attacks on maritime traffic.
Actual vessel numbers crossing the strait may be higher, since some ships have reportedly switched off their Automatic Identification System (AIS) transponders to reduce exposure to attacks.
Small-vessel traffic only
According to Kepler’s figures, all confirmed transits during the early part of the week involved small-sized vessels.
Among them were two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers: one exited the strait via the Iranian routing, while the other sailed toward India under cover of darkness.
