Kyiv Faces Major Russian Attack as Air Defenses Respond

Vitaliy Klychko, the mayor of Ukraine's capital Kyiv, stated on Friday that air defense systems are actively countering a significant Russian attack aimed at the city.

Witnesses told Reuters they heard multiple explosions across Kyiv as residents rushed to shelters for safety.

The Ukrainian Air Force issued a warning about missiles heading toward the capital.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on the same day that Ukrainian forces struck a factory in the Russian city of Kirov. This factory produces components for aircraft and missile systems used in attacks against Ukraine.

Zelensky added that an oil facility located approximately 1,350 kilometers away was also targeted. He mentioned successful strikes on Russian logistical sites but did not provide further details.

In a Telegram post, Zelensky emphasized that the ongoing operation is focused on Russian logistical locations supplying the occupying army with drone components, navigation equipment, and military hardware.
