Major Scandal: 35 Charges Including Rape Topple Prominent UK Politician
British prosecutors have charged a prominent Reform UK councillor with 35 serious offences, including 12 counts of rape and child sexual abuse imagery.

Prosecutors in Britain have brought 35 serious criminal charges against a politician, including 12 counts of rape, various sexual offenses, and possession and creation of indecent images of children.
George Maguire, a Hampshire County Councilor and senior figure in the "Reform UK" party, was released on bail and is scheduled to appear before Portsmouth Magistrates' Court on November 25.
The "Reform UK" party announced the immediate suspension of Councillor Maguire's membership upon the issuance of the official indictment by the Crown Prosecution Service, according to "The Independent" newspaper.
The Crown Prosecution Service clarified that the extensive list of charges against Councillor Maguire includes 12 counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of assault by penetration, as well as two counts of creating indecent images of a child and one count of distributing them. Additionally, there is one charge of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual exploitation, and two counts of controlling and coercive behavior.
The British councillor also faces one count each for stalking, threats to kill, false imprisonment, criminal damage, and theft.
A spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that Maguire is being prosecuted for "serious sexual crimes," emphasizing that the allegations meet the evidential sufficiency and public interest tests. They noted that legal proceedings are underway and urged avoiding the publication of any information that could prejudice his right to a fair trial.
Underage Victims
These charges follow extensive investigations conducted by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary regarding allegations involving four victims aged between 16 and 17 at the time of the alleged offenses, which reportedly occurred between 2008 and 2021 in the Portsmouth and Wales areas.
Police launched their investigation in July of last year after receiving a report of a sexual crime, before proceeding with actions and arresting Councillor Maguire at an address in Ponds Worth, London, in January of this year.
Suspended Political Career
Councillor Maguire is considered one of the prominent faces within his party, having served as the leader of the "Reform UK" group on Hampshire County Council after being first elected in 2021.
He also held the position of county councillor for the Havant North East area, represented the Portsdown area on Portsmouth City Council, and chaired the Corporate Services and Resources Committee.
