A friend of the suspect accused of stealing a huge amount of personal data from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said he begged his young companion not to do it, according to "Reuters".

Adam Al-Adab (19 years old) said he tried to convince Saif al-Din Khadr last month that hacking the bureau's data would make the US government pursue him with all its might, but he was not convinced.

Al-Adab added during his conversation with Khadr via messages in early September, "You are committing suicide." He said he told Khadr that he was "crazy" and should abandon the idea.

He continued, "Not just once, but several times. I tried to advise him."

The infiltration operation, for which the group (Shiny Hunters) claimed responsibility and which is reportedly led by Khadr, shook the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

A person familiar with the matter said last month that the FBI informed employees that it was acting on the assumption that the stolen data concerned all its staff.

The bureau announced that an intensive investigation is underway into the infiltration carried out by the Shiny Hunters group.
