Mohammad Javad Khamenei Identified as the "Mysterious Man" at Ali Khamenei's Funeral

Tehran and Oman have agreed to continue discussions aimed at reaching a mutual understanding to ensure security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Following the circulation of a photo showing a man covering his face during the burial ceremony of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in the city of Mashhad, the news site Rokna disclosed the identity of the "mysterious man."

The site identified the individual as Mohammad Javad Khamenei, the son of Mustafa Khamenei, who is the eldest son of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

According to Rokna, Mohammad Javad was present in Ali Khamenei's office during an attack and sustained injuries and burns to his face.

Earlier, some social media users speculated that the person in the photo was the new Iranian Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, who attended the funeral disguised for security reasons.

International reports have highlighted the absence of the current Iranian Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, from his father's funeral and burial ceremonies held last Thursday in Mashhad, raising questions about his current ability to lead the country.

CNN reported that Mojtaba Khamenei did not appear publicly at the grand funeral of his father, prompting observers to question his capacity to assume leadership during a critical period for Iran.

The network noted that over the past week, crowds of pro-Islamic Republic mourners took to the streets to bid farewell to the former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was buried in Mashhad on Thursday.

The report added that while members of Khamenei's family attended the funeral and burial ceremonies, there was no information confirming the presence of his successor and son, Mojtaba, who has not been seen since the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran in February.

CNN indicated that although the reason for Mojtaba's absence from all events, including his father's private burial, remains unclear, experts believe security considerations are the most likely cause.

Despite security threats, missing such an unmissable event has only fueled renewed speculation about Mojtaba's health status. Opponents of the regime claim that injuries he sustained during strikes that killed his father have left him unable to fulfill his duties or that he may have already died.

The report also stated that even within the regime's support base, Khamenei's absence has caused increased confusion, while senior regime officials, who represent its leadership in negotiations with Washington, face sharp criticism from the conservative faction.
