On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted an AI-generated image showing an atomic bomb dropping on Tel Aviv, accompanied by a stern warning regarding Iranian nuclear ambitions, just two days before Israelis head to the polls.

The post, which suggested that internal political disputes are insignificant compared to the threat coming from Tehran, drew a sharp reaction from Yair Golan, head of the Democrats party, who accused Netanyahu of inciting panic, according to "Ynet".

Alongside the image, Netanyahu quoted statements by Israeli writer and political commentator Yuval Bloomberg, known for his book "The Oslo Trap," which critically examines the 1993 Oslo Accords and their implications for Israeli security.

Bloomberg wrote: "The State of Israel faces a real and tangible existential threat if the Iranians acquire nuclear weapons; nothing else will matter. Everything seems trivial compared to the existential danger posed by Iran and the Shia axis."

The post also reiterated that Israel has only two years, during US President Donald Trump's administration, to address the Iranian threat, framing the disputes dominating Israeli politics as distractions from the country's most urgent security challenge.

The image and accompanying message came as Israel entered the final stage of its election campaign, with voters preparing to cast their ballots on Tuesday.

Netanyahu emphasized the Iranian threat throughout the election campaign, asserting that confronting Tehran's nuclear ambitions must remain Israel's top security priority.

For his part, Golan, former Deputy Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army and head of the Democrats party, condemned the post, accusing the Prime Minister of trying to intimidate voters.

Golan said: "The Prime Minister of Israel posted an image of an atomic bomb falling on Tel Aviv. I demand he be removed from social media. The man and those around him have lost their minds. The pressure is mounting."
