Pope Leo XIV to Visit Uruguay, Argentina, Peru from 6–17 November

The Vatican announced on Wednesday that Pope Leo XIV will visit Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru from 6 to 17 November, at the invitation of the heads of state and religious authorities in each country.

According to the official itinerary, the Pope — described as American-born — will be in Uruguay from 6 to 8 November, Argentina from 8 to 11 November, and Peru from 11 to 17 November. He lived in Peru for 20 years.

South American itinerary details

In Uruguay, the Pope will visit Montevideo, Paysandú in the west-central region, and Florida north of the capital. In Argentina, his stops include Buenos Aires, Córdoba in the central region, and Luján in the greater metropolitan area. In Peru, he will travel to Chiclayo, Lima, Cusco in the central highlands, and Pucallpa in the Amazon region.

Preceding trip to France

Prior to the South American tour, Pope Leo XIV will travel to France from 25 to 28 September. On the first day of that visit, he will meet French President Emmanuel Macron and visit UNESCO headquarters and Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.

On 26 September, he will preside over a Mass on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, which the Vatican expects to draw 500,000 attendees.

On Sunday, 27 September, Pope Leo XIV will celebrate another open-air Mass in Lourdes in southwestern France — one of the world’s most significant Catholic pilgrimage sites. His French visit concludes on 28 September in Moselle in eastern France.
