Donald Trump claimed midterm election results set the US back a giant step in history, while accusing Democrats of illegal threats against Republicans.

US President Donald Trump stated today, Sunday, that the midterm elections, in which his Republican Party lost control of Congress, pushed the United States "a giant step backward in history."
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, he said: "America has taken a giant step backward in history due to the recent election results," adding, "But don't worry, we will return, bigger and stronger than ever!"
Trump had previously accused the Democratic Party of directing threats at donors and members of the Republican Party, describing these practices as "unprecedented and illegal," and calling on the US Department of Justice to investigate them immediately.
He also called on the Senate to act to stop what he described as pressures faced by Republicans, warning that their continuation could lead to the party losing more elections, along with other repercussions.
Trump had affirmed his ability to work jointly with the Democratic Party and easily avoid directing criticisms and accusations at them, according to his expression.
