Pro-government party 'Amanat' wins 71% of votes in Kazakhstan's parliamentary elections

The election commission in Kazakhstan announced on Monday that 'Amanat,' a newly formed government-aligned party, secured slightly more than 71% of the votes in Sunday's parliamentary elections, a result likely to strengthen President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's authority.

The party 'Amanat,' meaning 'Justice' in the local language, was established earlier this year and is led by senior aides to Tokayev.

Shortly after its founding, the party absorbed the former ruling party 'Amanat.'

The election commission, quoting Reuters, stated that in addition to 'Amanat,' four other blocs managed to enter parliament: the business-friendly parties 'Respublika' and 'Ak Zhol,' the center-left nationalist democratic socialist party, and 'Oul,' representing rural voters.

All four opposition parties are generally seen as supportive of Tokayev's government.
