A large-scale fire erupted at a small oil refinery in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan, resulting in the combustion of 120 tonnes of petroleum products.

The blaze consumed two petroleum storage tanks located adjacent to other storage units.

Emergency responders succeeded in containing the fire and preventing its spread to neighbouring tanks.

The regional emergency management authority confirmed the fire had been completely extinguished over an area covering approximately 200 square metres.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
