Putin Meets His Egyptian Counterpart in New Delhi

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in India, where they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and develop joint cooperation across various fields.

Putin said during the meeting: "The volume of trade is growing, and its structure is also improving," noting that Russian and Egyptian authorities maintain constant communication, major joint events are being held, and plans are being implemented. He emphasized that "large-scale projects are being carried out according to plan, despite all difficulties."

Putin also pointed out that Russia takes Egypt's position into account when shaping policy in the Middle East and the African continent, describing Cairo as a "trusted friend" for Russia. He said: "Many events are taking place in the region and around the world. It is not only interesting, but always very important to know your stance on all these issues. You know we take Egypt's position into account in our practical policies, so today's meeting is absolutely essential."

Russian President expressed his delight at the new meeting, saying: "Mr. President, it has been a long time since we last met. I am very happy to meet you again," adding: "The times are turbulent. Many diverse events are happening. We are in contact with you. Our colleagues are in contact. Our major events are taking place and our plans are being implemented."
