US House Speaker Mike Johnson stated that "Russian President Vladimir Putin cannot be trusted," noting that he "must be dealt with on this basis."

According to Fox News, on Sunday, Johnson added that he "spoke with US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio about Russia," indicating that "his country will conduct trilateral negotiations regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war."

Earlier, Mike Johnson said he "urged the White House, in private conversations, to study the potential consequences of easing sanctions imposed on Russia, while Moscow continues its war on Ukraine."

This comes after the US President halted the implementation of a bill imposing sanctions on Russia and Iran this month, introduced by the late Senator Lindsey Graham, following his administration's easing of some restrictions on Russian diesel exports.

The US President announced an agreement this month, under which Russia agreed to supply global markets with diesel in an attempt to lower fuel prices.

The Trump administration temporarily lifted US sanctions on Russian fuel, which were aimed at depriving Moscow of the revenue needed to finance its war on Ukraine.

The agreement announced by Trump stipulates the supply of 300,000 tons of diesel during October, with additional quantities to be pumped later.
