Romanian Defense Ministry Confirms Drone Crash Near Ukrainian Border

Romania’s Ministry of National Defense confirmed on Friday that an unidentified drone, flying at low altitude and undetected by radar systems, crashed in a forested zone near the village of Lonca Vitei in the country’s southeast — approximately five kilometers from the Ukrainian border, according to Reuters.

Romania shares a 614-kilometer land border with Ukraine and is a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

Over the past four years, Romanian airspace has been repeatedly violated by Russian drones. In parallel, floating mines have appeared in the Black Sea, threatening key maritime trade and energy routes. The ministry did not identify the origin of the crashed drone and stated it caused no apparent damage.
