Russian jet-powered drone strikes Ukrainian border crossing near Poland

A regional Ukrainian official reported on Monday that a Russian jet-powered drone hit a village close to the Polish border, causing damage to a border crossing facility. The incident was confirmed by Roman Romaniuk, the acting head of the Volyn region in western Ukraine, who shared details via a Telegram post.

Damage at Starovoytov checkpoint

Romaniuk stated that an explosion occurred in the village of Starovoytov, situated near the frontier with Poland. According to his account, the blast damaged the structure of the checkpoint located at the entrance to the passenger terminal.

Polish security alert lifted

The Polish Government Security Centre issued an urgent warning earlier on Monday for residents of the Lublin region, which borders Ukraine. Authorities had advised locals to seek safe shelters due to intensified Russian air attacks on neighboring Ukraine. This alert has since been lifted.

Prior to this update, the same centre had released a notification indicating that Polish aircraft were operating within national airspace as a result of the ongoing Russian strikes on Ukraine.
