The US president asserted that he inflicted harm on Iran's leader Mojtaba Khamenei during an airstrike carried out in Tehran at the start of the war in late February.

In an interview with Axios, Donald Trump said, "Unfortunately, I caused harm to Iran's leader Mojtaba Khamenei, and he sustained serious injuries."

Trump also expressed that "Khamenei the son is different from his father," adding, "I have not spoken with the new Iranian leader, but he possesses a degree of courage," according to his words.

The American president described the current situation in Iran as "a regime change" and suggested that "the memorandum of understanding might represent an unconditional Iranian surrender."

On Thursday, Trump signed a memorandum of understanding with Iran to cease hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, while postponing discussions on the nuclear issue to a later time.

Iranian media reported a message attributed to Khamenei regarding the memorandum, indicating his approval to proceed with the agreement despite his initial differing stance.

The White House confirmed that "the agreement with Iran excludes failed appeasement policies, payment of funds, and endless wars."

In a statement, the White House emphasized that "the agreement with Iran ensures it will never obtain a nuclear weapon and enforces the America First principle."
