Once Again, Trump Shocked Everyone: He Proposes Changing 'New Mexico' to 'New America'

President Donald Trump floated the idea of changing the name of the state of New Mexico to "New America," saying that many people have suggested the new name to him.

He wrote on his platform "Truth Social": "Many people have suggested changing the name of New Mexico to New America," expressing his admiration for the idea.

Describing the proposed name as "more majestic and beautiful" for the state’s residents, the U.S. president added, in reference to New Mexico: "What a great idea... I love it."

In the same post, Trump repeated his allegations about elections in the state, describing New Mexico as one of the states where, according to his claims, widespread election fraud occurs.

Trump provided no evidence to support this allegation, nor did he clarify whether his remarks about renaming the state represent an official proposal his administration would adopt or merely an endorsement of an idea he said others had put forward.

Trump’s proposal comes after similar suggestions he made regarding geographical names, including using the name "Gulf of America" instead of the Gulf of Mexico in official U.S. usage.

He recently also shared content suggesting the shared Lake Ontario between the United States and Canada be named "Lake America."

Changing the name of a U.S. state differs from renaming a geographic landmark, as the name "New Mexico" is enshrined in the state constitution, legislation, and associated government entities. Trump did not announce any legal steps in his post to change the name to "New America."
