On Monday, President Donald Trump affirmed that discussions with Iran are continuing, despite reports indicating that Tehran had suspended indirect negotiations with the United States.

Trump posted on Truth Social, stating, "The talks are continuing at an accelerated pace with the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Earlier, the official Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that Tehran had halted indirect talks with Washington following Israel's order for its forces to advance further into Lebanon.

Following that report, Trump, in telephone interviews with media outlets, said he had not been informed about Iran suspending negotiations with the United States.

In an interview with NBC News, Trump said, "They did not inform us of that."

He added that silence between the parties would be appropriate and that he was willing to wait.

The U.S. president stated, "I think we have talked enough, if you want to know the truth. I think silence would be very good, and it could last for a long time."

Trump also reassured NBC that the suspension of talks does not mean the United States will begin bombing Iran, while emphasizing that the American blockade on Iranian ports will remain in place.

In a separate interview with CNBC, Trump expressed indifference to the end of the talks.

CNBC quoted him as saying, "Honestly, I don't care if they end... I don't care at all."

Shortly after these interviews aired, Trump confirmed on social media that talks with Iran are ongoing.

Additionally, Trump and Netanyahu spoke by phone amid the escalation in Lebanon.
