President Donald Trump has expressed his desire for the incoming intelligence director to initiate employee dismissals within the intelligence community.

In an interview published on Friday by the Wall Street Journal, President Donald Trump stated his intention for the next director of intelligence to commence a process of staff layoffs.
Trump revealed that he had informed Bill Pulte, the former head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence is "unnecessary or too large."
He told the newspaper, "I want to see it smaller. I think there are a lot of people who shouldn't be there." When asked if he was urging Pulte to fire employees, Trump responded that he wants him to "start the process."
In a separate statement made from the presidential plane on the same day, Trump told reporters, "If he reduces the number, I wouldn’t mind," adding that the staff size in Pulte's office had been "too high for too long."
