Trump's New Gulf Map: 'Trump Strait' Excludes Qatar and Bahrain

US President Donald Trump published a new map of the Gulf under the name "Trump Strait," which includes the coasts of several regional countries but omits Qatar and Bahrain. This comes after he rejected Iran's proposal to open the Strait of Hormuz.

President Trump posted the new map on the "Truth Social" platform, replacing the name of the Strait of Hormuz with "Trump Strait."

This move followed his rejection of the Iranian proposal. Trump drew a circle around the Strait of Hormuz; this circle included islands located within the strait area and also encompassed the coasts of Iran and the United Arab Emirates. Notably, the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Bahrain are absent from this map.

The "Wall Street Journal" revealed details of the Iranian proposal, which stipulates reopening the strait and resuming negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear program.

This offer is presented in exchange for lifting the US naval blockade imposed on Iranian ports, a blockade that has damaged the Iranian economy. In a related context, Trump informed both officials and aides that he expects US bombing of Iran to resume after the midterm congressional elections scheduled for next November.

On the other hand, the US President confirmed that he discussed the Iran file and the situation in the strait during his talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. These conversations took place during a joint visit to the US National Archives. In detail, David Perdue, the US Ambassador to China, revealed the content of what Trump said to his Chinese counterpart at the White House.

Perdue clarified in an interview with the American network "CNBC" that Trump stressed to his Chinese counterpart a categorical refusal. He stated that Trump made it clear to the Chinese President that Washington completely rejects Beijing's support for Iran. Trump renewed this affirmation as part of a continuous and consistent message, explaining that his country had made it clear to the Chinese in recent weeks that any assistance provided to Iran is entirely unacceptable, whether this support involves transferring intelligence information, providing spare parts, or sending military equipment.
