UAE Dispatches Emergency Aid Flight Carrying 83 Tons to Nepal

The United Arab Emirates has deployed an emergency humanitarian aid flight to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, delivering 83 tons of food items and diverse shelter materials. The shipment was coordinated by the Emirates International Aid Agency and aims to support those affected by recent floods and landslides across multiple Nepali regions, incidents that have resulted in dozens of deaths, injuries, and disappearances, alongside severe damage.

Implementation of Presidential Directive

This urgent assistance follows directives issued by the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who allocated $10 million in US dollars for relief efforts targeting those impacted by the disaster. The funding is intended to ensure early recovery and stability, as well as to supply essential goods and critical needs for all age groups amid these difficult and emergency conditions.

Coordination Mechanism on the Ground

The Emirates International Aid Agency is working in coordination with the UAE Embassy in Nepal to liaise directly with local authorities. This collaboration ensures rapid delivery of multifaceted relief assistance to eligible beneficiaries. The agency also continues coordinating with relevant international organizations to strengthen the collective humanitarian response in the affected areas.
