UAE Drone Use Locates 10 Flood Missing in Nepal, Total Found Rises to 18

The United Arab Emirates search and rescue team has located 10 individuals missing as a result of flooding in Nepal, raising the total number of missing persons it has found since the start of its mission to 18, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Search operations are concentrated in Rasuwa District and the vicinity of the Trishuli River, as well as adjacent damaged locations.

The team deploys advanced equipment and technologies, including unmanned aerial vehicles, aerial surveying, and three-dimensional mapping, to identify target areas and accelerate searches for missing persons.

Humanitarian airlift delivers fifth UAE aid flight

The field operations coincide with the arrival of the fifth UAE humanitarian aircraft in Nepal, carrying specialized equipment and supplies to support search and rescue efforts. The shipment included rescue boats, unmanned aerial vehicles, energy-related devices and equipment, plus technical and logistical gear, all intended for handover to Nepali search and rescue teams to strengthen their capabilities and assist operations in affected zones.

Emirati official confirms coordination with Nepali authorities

Hamoud Al Afari, Director of UAE Relief Operations, stated: “UAE teams continue working side by side with Nepali authorities. He confirmed that search and rescue operations are ongoing in accordance with priorities and on-the-ground information, while simultaneously providing equipment and essential requirements to Nepali teams to enhance their capacity to continue search operations and access affected areas.”
