Seventy-eight civilians have been killed and 215 others injured in recent Russian strikes, according to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. The minister characterized the attacks as a "new wave of terror" and announced that Kyiv has formally requested an emergency convening of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

Emergency UNSC request filed

Sybiha stated on social media that Ukraine is currently under intense aerial bombardment. He confirmed that the government has asked the Security Council to meet immediately to address what he described as Russia’s latest campaign of terror against the country.

The foreign minister urged the international community to provide a concrete response to Moscow’s actions. He argued that global powers must uphold the principles of the UN Charter and ensure appropriate measures are taken against Russian operations.

Specific targets and casualty figures

According to Sybiha’s account, Russian forces struck the city of Priluki on October 7. The following day, two passenger buses were targeted in Kramatorsk. The capital, Kyiv, also remained within the scope of these recent assaults.

The official cited the cumulative toll of these incidents over the last few days, reiterating the figure of 78 fatalities and 215 wounded among the civilian population.

Criticism of Putin and diplomatic status

Sybiha directed sharp criticism at Russian President Vladimir Putin, labeling him a "war criminal." The minister claimed that because Putin has failed to achieve results on the battlefield, he is escalating terrorism against Ukraine’s civilian population.

Furthermore, Sybiha asserted that Russia’s permanent representation at the United Nations is "illegal." He maintained that this status should influence how the international body responds to the ongoing conflict.
