Washington: Iran's Funds for Hezbollah Are Fake, Disarmament a Condition for Reconstruction and Peace
A US State Department spokesperson stated that Hezbollah's claimed Iranian funding is non-existent, relying instead on criminal activities. The official emphasized that disarming Hezbollah is a prerequisite for Lebanon's reconstruction and lasting peace.

A spokesperson for the US State Department stated that "the funds Hezbollah claims to receive from Iran do not exist at all; rather, it relies on criminal activities, including drug smuggling and cooperation with Latin American drug cartels."
He said: "Hezbollah dragged Lebanon into a suicidal war, and its weapons brought nothing but misery and destruction. It must realize that its era is over."
He added: "We are working with our Gulf and European partners on a plan to provide billions of dollars in aid for Lebanon's reconstruction, but the disarmament of Hezbollah must come first," arguing that "peace will only be achieved through the disarmament of Hezbollah, and the trilateral framework remains the only viable path to achieving permanent peace and security for Lebanon and Israel."
