Xi to Putin: We Will Strengthen the Foundations of Our Relations

Xinhua News Agency reported that Chinese President Xi Jinping informed his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on Monday that the foundations of bilateral relations between the two countries would become more solid and their prospects brighter under their "strategic guidance and joint efforts".

Xi said: "The international situation has seen a noticeable increase in uncertainty and unforeseen factors," adding that people's pursuit of peace, development, and cooperation remains unchanged.

During a meeting held on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Kyrgyzstan, Xi emphasized China's readiness to work with Russia and other countries to "strengthen forces driving global governance reform and promote a multipolar world characterized by equality and order".

Xinhua reported that the two leaders also discussed international and regional issues of mutual interest.
