Yemeni security agencies apprehended the main suspects in the assassination of Brigadier General Yahya Wahish in Hodeidah within 24 hours of the attack.

Yemeni security forces on the western coast announced on Monday evening the arrest of the primary suspects involved in the assassination of Brigadier General Yahya Wahish, commander of the First Brigade in the National Resistance, less than 24 hours after the incident occurred.
The investigative committee assigned to the case stated that the operation to detain the suspects was carried out through coordination among various military and security bodies, including the Hodeidah Police, Coast Guard, the General Intelligence Division of the National Resistance, and the Intelligence Division of the First Infantry Brigade.
In a video statement, Brigadier General Zayed Mansour, head of the Hodeidah Axis and chairman of the committee, confirmed that the suspects were apprehended while attempting to flee by sea from the shores of Al-Khokha District in southern Hodeidah Governorate. During preliminary investigations, they confessed to carrying out the assassination.
Mansour added that the suspects revealed direct links to the Houthi militia, having received instructions and support from them to target Brigadier General Wahish. He also noted that investigations and pursuit operations to apprehend other individuals involved in the case are ongoing.
Following the crime, security agencies immediately took action by sealing off the crime scene, imposing a security cordon, collecting evidence, and reviewing surveillance camera footage in the vicinity. Concurrently, security measures were tightened at land and sea entry points.
Mansour pointed out that several suspects were detained for investigation, with some released after confirming their non-involvement. Investigations continue with others, alongside ongoing inquiries to ensure the capture of all perpetrators.
He concluded by stating that the suspects will be referred to the judiciary after completing legal procedures, emphasizing that they will not be included in any future prisoner exchange deals due to their involvement in a terrorist act.
Separately, Brigadier General Sadiq Dawid, military spokesperson for the National Resistance forces, confirmed the capture of two members of the Houthi terrorist cell responsible for assassinating Brigadier General Yahya Wahish.
In a post on the platform "X," Dawid noted that the security committee investigating the crime remains active and will announce results to the public as they develop. He stressed that justice will reach all those responsible and vowed that the martyr's blood will not be wasted.
Earlier, National Resistance media reported on Sunday evening the assassination of Brigadier General Yahya Wahish through a remotely detonated explosive device planted on one side of the main road in the center of Al-Khokha District, southern Hodeidah Governorate, targeting his convoy as it passed.
Meanwhile, fierce battles continue between the joint forces and the Houthis in southern Hodeidah.
