Meta is preparing to test an AI-powered pendant device in the coming year, as revealed in a company memo obtained by The Information.

This new wearable is expected to build upon the technology developed by Limitless, an AI device startup acquired by Meta at the end of 2025. Limitless created an AI pendant designed to be worn as a necklace or clipped to clothing, capable of recording conversations. Meta stated that acquiring Limitless would help accelerate its development of AI-enabled wearable devices.

Previous AI wearable products have struggled to gain consumer traction, possibly due to privacy issues, ineffective marketing, or limited usefulness. Despite these challenges, companies such as OpenAI continue to pursue advancements in this field.

The memo also indicates Meta's plans to broaden its range of AI glasses and introduce a business subscription service named Wearables for Work. These initiatives are part of Meta's efforts to improve the performance of its Reality Labs hardware division, which reported a $4 billion loss in the first quarter of this year.
