Silicon Valley Security Scandal: Employee Betrays OpenAI!
OpenAI discovered a sophisticated recording device planted by an employee in one of its offices and has referred the matter to the FBI.

OpenAI announced that it discovered a sophisticated recording device hidden inside one of its offices, and that it used its models to understand the nature and origin of the device before determining that a specific employee had planted it a few days prior.
The company added that it referred the matter to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), noting that agents and prosecutors moved quickly to execute an arrest, while the investigation remains ongoing.
OpenAI stated that there are currently no indications that the employee improperly accessed model weights, source code, or customer data, or extracted any of these outside the company, confirming that the employee was terminated.
It added that protecting its technology, data, and employees is a matter of national importance, and that its security program is designed to handle a wide spectrum of threats, from insider risks and cybercriminals to states, according to its statement.
The company said this case serves as an example of how artificial intelligence can help counter advanced security threats.
