Khorfakkan Port is preparing to receive a 6,068-vehicle roll-on/roll-off vessel from China’s Xiaomoh International Logistics Port in Shenzhen, marking the launch of a new direct maritime shipping line.
Khorfakkan Port is set to welcome a massive roll-on/roll-off vessel carrying 6,068 new-energy vehicles manufactured by Chinese automaker BYD. The ship departed from Xiaomoh International Logistics Port in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, initiating a newly established direct maritime shipping route between China and the UAE.
This voyage—originating in southern China’s Guangdong Province—introduces a strategic logistics solution for Chinese exporters targeting the UAE and the broader Middle East region. The new maritime line reduces sea transit duration between the two countries by three to five days, mitigating logistical challenges associated with shipping large vehicles and equipment.
The shipment bound for Khorfakkan represents the largest single-shipment volume of vehicles ever handled by Xiaomoh Port since its opening in late 2021. The Chinese facility currently operates 12 dedicated vehicle-carrying maritime routes, connecting China to a wide network spanning the Middle East, Southeast Asia, the Mediterranean, Europe, South America, Africa, and Australia.
From the start of 2026 through August of this year, Khorfakkan’s commercial terminal has handled a total of 24,675 vehicles. The average discharge rate stands at 141 vehicles per hour, with the highest recorded hourly throughput reaching 197 vehicles.
