Barcelona has made a new verbal bid of €60 million plus add-ons for Manchester City midfielder Rodri, while City insists on €80 million amid ongoing transfer uncertainty.

Uncertainty persists over the future of Spanish national team captain Rodri as negotiations between Manchester City and Barcelona over his potential summer transfer remain unresolved.
Multiple press reports suggest Rodri is drawing closer to joining Barcelona, though his current club shows no willingness to release him easily.
Rodri’s contract with Manchester City runs until summer 2027, making this transfer window the English club’s final opportunity to secure a financial return on the player, given the absence of any agreement on a contract extension.
Barcelona is seeking to leverage the final year of Rodri’s existing deal alongside the player’s expressed desire to leave City in order to finalize the move.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Barcelona has submitted a new verbal offer to Manchester City valuing Rodri at €60 million, plus performance-related add-ons.
Romano added on his official X account that Manchester City is maintaining its position, demanding €80 million for the midfielder’s transfer.
According to Romano, Barcelona remains confident the deal can be completed, with a compromise between the two valuation figures seen as the most viable path forward — and add-ons considered a critical component of any agreement.
Rodri, captain of the Spain national team, was one of the standout performers in Spain’s 2026 World Cup triumph and was awarded the tournament’s Best Player prize.
