Barcelona aims to equal its best La Liga start with a win against Getafe, continuing Hansi Flick's perfect record.

FC Barcelona, managed by German coach Hansi Flick, continues to shatter records in the Spanish league. The Catalan giant has achieved a perfect score so far this season, winning all seven of its opening La Liga matches.
According to Mundo Deportivo, a victory over Getafe at Spotify Camp Nou on Saturday would allow Barcelona to match the club’s best-ever start in La Liga history. That record belongs to the team led by Tata Martino during his sole season at the helm (2013-2014).
Martino’s side eventually saw its unbeaten run extend until matchday 14 before losing 1-0 to Athletic Bilbao at San Mames. Osasuna had previously halted their winning streak with a goalless draw in round nine. In that same campaign, Barcelona finished with 87 points, falling short of the 100-point barrier set under Tito Vilanova the previous year.
Atletico Madrid also achieved eight wins at the start of a season. Diego Simeone’s team ultimately clinched the title on the final matchday at the same venue where they drew with Barcelona. Real Madrid matched an eight-win start in the 1961-1962 and 1987-1988 seasons.
The absolute record remains with Real Madrid from the last century. Under Miguel Munoz, Los Blancos went unbeaten through the first nine rounds of the 1968-1969 season. They dropped their first points in round ten after drawing with Ponferradina, following a Clásico win over Barcelona at Santiago Bernabeu.
Barcelona’s current sequence under Flick draws specific attention, as Porto is the only other team in Europe’s top leagues to maintain a perfect record after seven games. Beyond the 21 points out of 21 available—a six-point lead over Real Madrid—the team’s scoring volume stands out.
Blaugrana have netted 31 goals, averaging nearly four per match. This exceeds any previous total at this stage of the season; the 1950-1951 squad reached 29 goals. Excluding the 2-1 loss to Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona secured large victories in almost every fixture: 7-0 against Racing Santander, 5-0 against Elche, Rayo Vallecano, and Valencia, 4-0 against Levante, and 3-0 against Sevilla.
Last season, Barcelona stumbled early, drawing with Rayo Vallecano in round three after beating Mallorca and Levante. The season prior saw their winning streak stop at seven games, matching the current tally. Those wins came against Valencia, Athletic Bilbao, Rayo Vallecano, Valladolid, Girona, Villarreal, and Getafe.
However, they lost the eighth match to Osasuna after fielding an experimental lineup missing many regular starters. If Barcelona beats Getafe—who have never won at Camp Nou—their home winning streak will reach 23 consecutive matches.
This places them among the top five sequences in Spanish football history. They are one win away from equalling the all-time record of 24 straight home victories, held solely by Real Madrid across the 1988-1989 and 1989-1990 campaigns.
