Mason Greenwood, who transferred from Manchester United to Marseille in the summer of 2024 following a loan period at Getafe, has attracted attention from several clubs, including Arsenal and AS Roma, according to French media reports.

Greenwood's departure from Manchester United was marked by off-field controversies, making a return to the club highly unlikely. The Red Devils retain a 40% sell-on clause in any future transfer involving the player, as reported earlier this month by The Manchester Evening News.

Clubs Express Interest in Greenwood

The French newspaper L’Equipe has identified Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur among the clubs reportedly interested in acquiring Greenwood. Additionally, AS Roma has been linked with the 24-year-old forward, with Italian media suggesting that Greenwood and Roma have reached an ‘agreement in principle’ on a contract extending until 2031.

L’Equipe stated that Greenwood, who is under contract with Marseille until 2029 and has one international cap for England, has expressed a desire to remain in Provence. However, Marseille might consider offers that exceed market value, especially since Manchester United holds 40% of the player's rights.

The report also noted that despite multiple suitors, a return to the Premier League appears unlikely due to Greenwood’s previous off-pitch issues during his time at Manchester United. Notably, Tottenham’s current manager Roberto De Zerbi has previously worked with Greenwood at Marseille.

Fabrizio Romano Refutes Tottenham Pursuit

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has publicly denied rumors that Tottenham Hotspur are seeking to sign Mason Greenwood during the summer transfer window. On June 19 at 3:43pm, Romano posted on X: “Tottenham are not working on deal to sign Mason Greenwood despite reports.”

Prospects of Greenwood moving to Arsenal also seem doubtful. Although Greenwood performed well during his loan at Getafe and has contributed positively at Marseille, signing the forward could pose reputational challenges for Arsenal given the player's past controversies.
