De la Fuente to Earn €4–5M Annually After World Cup Triumph

Spain’s national team coach Luis de la Fuente will earn between €4 million and €5 million annually under a new agreement set to be announced in the coming days, according to official sources cited by Radio Cadena SER.

The deal extends De la Fuente’s tenure through 2030 and follows Spain’s World Cup victory. It also includes negotiated salary increases for his coaching staff. Talks began in August, and final financial details remain under discussion.

World Ranking Context

Carlo Ancelotti of Brazil currently holds the top position among national team coaches by salary, followed by Mauricio Pochettino (United States), Thomas Tuchel (England), Roberto Martínez (Portugal), Fabio Cannavaro (Uzbekistan), and Zinedine Zidane (France). De la Fuente’s new compensation will place him within that top-five group but will not match the figures earned by Ancelotti or Tuchel.

His remuneration has been calibrated to align with the Spanish Football Federation’s budget relative to those of other federations, officials told Cadena SER.

Record-Breaking Tenure

Since assuming leadership in 2022, De la Fuente has guided Spain to victory in the UEFA Nations League, the European Championship, and the World Cup — securing the nation’s second World Cup title. The federation describes the upcoming contract revision as a reward for that historic achievement.

He is scheduled to lead La Roja at the 2030 World Cup, which Spain will co-host as reigning champions.
