Macron Charges Into the 'FIFA War' With Force!

Reports indicate that French President Emmanuel Macron has directly intervened in the crisis surrounding FIFA President Gianni Infantino, supporting UEFA's stance against the proposed restructuring of FIFA's commercial rights.

French newspaper L'Équipe reported that "Macron conducted a series of calls and consultations in recent days following the controversy sparked by FIFA's proposal to sell a minority stake in its competition rights through a new entity, before the project was ultimately abandoned amid widespread opposition."

L'Équipe quoted a source close to Macron stating that "the French president acted in the same way he previously opposed the Super League project, driven by his commitment to principles of solidarity and sporting merit," adding that "Macron supported UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin and French Football Federation President Philippe Diallo, who was among the first national federation heads to publicly reject the proposal."

The report noted that "Macron aims to preserve unity in global football and prevent a permanent rift between continents and continental federations, underscoring that this aligns with his diplomatic role."

According to the report, Macron also spoke directly with Infantino ahead of UEFA's crucial meeting, urging the FIFA chief to prioritize global football unity and strengthen international solidarity.
