Kylian Mbappe resumed first-team sessions at Valdebebas on Wednesday, signaling his availability for the upcoming league fixture. The French forward completed a full workout under manager Jose Mourinho following a brief absence caused by a knee problem sustained during international duty.

Recovery timeline and squad status

The injury occurred during France’s UEFA Nations League win over Turkiye. Marca initially reported that the 26-year-old was on track to feature in this weekend’s contest against Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu. His participation in the group session confirms he has recovered sufficiently to be considered for selection.

Mbappe’s return follows an international break marked by mixed events. He scored for France before suffering the scare, then took a short holiday that generated discussion among supporters regarding his travels to Paris and Switzerland. Despite the off-field noise, reports indicate he appeared focused and sharp during the training work.

Goal contribution metrics

Data highlights Mbappe’s central role in the attack. He has scored eight of Real Madrid’s 20 goals across all competitions this season, accounting for 40% of the team’s total output. Seven of those strikes came in La Liga matches.

The Bernabeu has been his most effective venue. Recent performances include a hat-trick against Real Sociedad and two goals in the victory over Rayo Vallecano. Real Madrid currently occupies fourth place in the domestic standings with 15 points, sitting six points behind league leaders Barcelona.

European campaign performance

Mbappe also contributed significantly in the Champions League. He scored the decisive goal in the opening 2-1 triumph over Inter Milan, helping Los Blancos begin their European campaign successfully. Across eight appearances this season, he found the net five times.

Away form remains a point of contrast. The former PSG striker did not score during difficult visits to Real Betis and Atletico Madrid. This pattern suggests his highest impact levels are currently achieved when playing in front of home supporters.

Upcoming fixture congestion

The timing of his fitness recovery aligns with a demanding schedule. After facing Villarreal on Saturday, Real Madrid will host Sevilla before traveling to play Barcelona on October 25.

European commitments continue alongside these domestic clashes. The club is scheduled to face Roma and RB Leipzig in upcoming fixtures. Mourinho will rely on Mbappe’s consistency to maintain tactical balance during this period of high-frequency competition.
