Napoli have turned away several offers for Scott McTominay, including approaches from two Premier League clubs and one Saudi club, while also moving to secure a new long-term deal for the Scotland international.

McTominay stays at Napoli

The club have made the midfielder untouchable after interest from England and the Saudi Pro League, according to Tuttosport. McTominay has become a cornerstone of the side in Italy, and Napoli are working around the clock to secure his future at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The former Manchester United player has been described as a revelation in Serie A, and the club hierarchy sees him as a pillar for future projects. Reports of a possible return to the Premier League have circulated, but Napoli have no intention of letting him leave only two years after his arrival.

Contract talks for 2030

Napoli are now moving quickly to tie McTominay down to a new contract. Talks are under way to extend his stay until 2030, with an option for 2031, and the deal would also bring a significant salary increase to reflect his status as one of the league's top performers.

McTominay has already spoken publicly about his happiness in Italy. He said: "My agent has not communicated with anyone regarding my future. He only speaks with me and with the club. He hasn't said anything to the newspapers. I am extremely happy here and, as far as I am concerned, I am a Napoli player; it is all I think about. The future is very important and I could see myself in Napoli for a long time."

Italiano leads the coaching race

Changes are expected on the bench, even if the squad remains stable. The report says Vincenzo Italiano has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Antonio Conte, who is expected to say farewell after the final league game against Udinese.

President Aurelio De Laurentiis has long admired the Bologna coach and missed out on him twice before, in 2021 and 2024. Napoli are preparing a two-year contract with an option for a third season for Italiano, while sporting director Giovanni Manna is set to stay despite interest from Roma.

Tuttosport also says former Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri is heading for Atalanta rather than a return to Naples.

Vergara draws Premier League interest

Another Napoli player is attracting attention from England. Antonio Vergara has reportedly received a formal proposal worth between €25 million and €30m from a top-tier Premier League club.

The 23-year-old midfielder has also drawn interest from two major Serie A sides, leaving open the possibility of a bidding war as the summer window approaches. Napoli face a decision on the youngster, with a significant capital gain potentially helping to fund Italiano's first transfer market.

For now, though, the club's priority is to keep the core of the starting XI together so the next manager has the tools needed to compete for the Scudetto again.
