Napoli’s €20m Gabriel Jesus bid hinges on post-Lukaku sales and salary-cap constraints

A permanent transfer for Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal to Napoli remains contingent on two unresolved conditions: additional player sales by the Italian club and agreement on personal terms within its salary cap, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano confirmed that Napoli and Arsenal have held direct talks to clarify the precise requirements for completing the move. The deal would need to be structured as a permanent transfer — not a loan with obligation to buy — given that Jesus’s current contract expires at the end of this season.

Jesus’s profile and market positioning

The Brazilian striker, aged 29, is versatile across the forward line, capable of operating as a centre-forward or on either wing. His agent represents both Jesus and Napoli head coach Massimiliano Allegri — a connection underscored by Jesus’s recent appearances at the club’s training camp in Castel di Sangro over the past week.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the transfer could be concluded for less than €20 million. His annual salary would fall around €6 million, placing it under scrutiny against Napoli’s internal wage structure.

Financial and squad constraints

Napoli must complete further player exits after the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Fenerbahce. Those transactions are needed both to generate funds and to open roster spaces required for new signings.

Agreeing personal terms with Jesus may prove difficult due to Napoli’s salary cap. Competing offers from Fenerbahce, Besiktas, or even Milan could present higher wage packages and bonus structures, complicating Napoli’s ability to match them.
