Newcastle United expects multiple bids for Sandro Tonali, with Manchester United stepping back and Tottenham, Arsenal, and Manchester City competing for the midfielder.

Newcastle United is anticipating offers for midfielder Sandro Tonali, with the club setting a price near £100 million amid interest from Tottenham, Arsenal, and Manchester City.
Manchester United has communicated to Newcastle that they will not pursue a transfer for Tonali this summer, citing the high transfer fee and the player's wage demands as obstacles within their financial plans.
Tottenham Hotspur, under manager Roberto De Zerbi, has entered the competition to sign the Italy international as part of a midfield rebuild. Spurs are also negotiating with Manchester City for the transfer of 22-year-old Brazilian winger Savinho, expected to leave the Etihad Stadium for around £60 million.
Earlier discussions between Newcastle and Tonali’s representatives indicated that the player favors Arsenal and Manchester City as his preferred destinations, rather than Tottenham, if he were to leave St James’ Park.
Newcastle is prepared for a series of bids reflecting their valuation of around £100 million for Tonali. This fee corresponds to the midfielder's importance to Eddie Howe’s squad since his transfer from AC Milan to Tyneside.
Manchester City’s sporting director Hugo Viana is considering whether to finalize a deal for Tonali or focus on their primary target, Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, who is on track to become Britain’s most expensive transfer this summer.
City’s leadership has not publicly indicated a preference between Anderson and Tonali, but reports of contact with Tonali’s representatives and his openness to joining the Etihad Stadium could influence the decision.
Incoming Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca faces the challenge of reinforcing the central midfield amid ongoing squad changes, making this transfer window critical for his tenure.
Whether Manchester City opts to acquire Tonali, pursue Anderson, or secure both players before the FIFA World Cup ends remains uncertain, but Manchester United’s withdrawal confirms they are no longer contenders in this transfer scenario.
