Fatwa House: Legal Actions Will Be Taken Against Anyone Targeting the Grand Mufti

"It is with deep surprise and condemnation that the media office at the Fatwa House expresses its reaction to statements made by some newspapers, online sites, and social media platforms, which are unworthy of the esteemed position and status of the Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic. These constitute orchestrated campaigns that contradict the ethical standards and traditions governing relations with the Fatwa House and its scholars. The media office reaffirms its respect for all opinions and viewpoints, and for freedom of expression within genuine ethical boundaries, as Islam warns against slander and spreading rumors. Anyone wishing to criticize should do so in accordance with God’s truth, free from personal attacks, unfounded conclusions, speculative assumptions, and the dissemination of fabricated news that distorts facts from their proper course.

While expressing sorrow over the decline in discourse standards, the office warns against distortions completely disconnected from the truth, emphasizing that legal and judicial measures will be taken against anyone who attacks the dignity of the Grand Mufti or the Fatwa House through defamation and false allegations."
