In a rapid development over the past few hours, Real Madrid has successfully completed the signing of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea for a total of 60 million euros.

Sources close to the matter revealed that the Spanish club reached a verbal agreement with all parties involved, including the player himself, preparing for an official announcement once the World Cup concludes.

The transfer deal includes a fixed fee of 55 million euros plus an additional 5 million euros in bonuses and incentives. Cucurella's move to Real Madrid will take place immediately after the World Cup.

Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Cucurella is the left-back that Real Madrid's coach strongly desires. He added that the deal shifted from mere interest to a finalized agreement within a few hours.

The Spanish defender had been on Real Madrid's list of targets for several months alongside other options. However, the firm insistence of head coach José Mourinho was the decisive factor in favoring Cucurella as the ideal choice to strengthen the left flank.

Cucurella, aged 27, joined Chelsea from Brighton in the summer of 2022 for 63.5 million euros. During his time at Chelsea, he played 163 matches, scoring 9 goals and providing 13 assists. He also won the UEFA Europa Conference League twice (2024-2025) and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025.

The Spanish left-back is a product of Barcelona’s La Masia academy, where he represented all youth levels before being promoted to the first team in the 2018-2019 season under Ernesto Valverde. He has also played for Eibar, Getafe, and Brighton in his career.
