Rodrigo De Paul Commends Lionel Messi's Team Spirit After World Cup Hat-Trick
Rodrigo De Paul praised Lionel Messi's focus on team success following his record-tying hat-trick in Argentina's World Cup win over Algeria.

Argentina's captain Lionel Messi matched Miroslav Klose's all-time World Cup goal record by scoring a hat-trick in the team's 3-0 victory against Algeria. Despite this personal milestone, teammate Rodrigo De Paul emphasized Messi's dedication to the team's collective success over individual accolades.
Argentina has maintained a strong presence in the tournament after an impressive start, with De Paul highlighting Messi's crucial role. The Inter Miami forward's performance included 57 touches, four shots on target, 81% pass accuracy, and two key passes during his 80 minutes on the field.
De Paul described Messi's leadership as invaluable, noting that the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner prioritizes the group's achievements above personal records. "It's an advantage to have Leo, because of how he manages the group and leads it forward, because of who he is," De Paul said. "He doesn't care about individual records, he prioritises the group and for us that's incredible."
Midfielder Alexis Mac Allister also underscored Messi's importance to the team, dismissing any notion that Argentina could succeed without their number 10. Mac Allister stated, "There is no words for Messi! If someone thought that this team was better without Leo… it became clear that he is the most important."
Currently, Argentina leads Group J on goal difference after securing three points in their opening match. Their next game is scheduled against Austria on June 22 in Dallas, following Austria's 3-1 win over Jordan. The group stage will conclude with a match against Jordan, and if Messi continues his current form, Argentina's chances of defending their World Cup title remain strong.
