Brazilian legend Romario harshly criticized coach Carlo Ancelotti following Brazil's 2026 World Cup Round of 16 elimination and called for his immediate firing.

Brazilian football icon Romario directed severe insults at Italy's Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Brazil’s national team, after their exit from the 2026 World Cup.
Brazil was eliminated from the 2026 World Cup in the Round of 16 after a 2-1 defeat to Norway. Despite this, the Brazilian Football Confederation decided to renew its trust in Ancelotti.
However, Romario, who won the World Cup with Brazil in 1994, rejected the decision to keep Ancelotti and demanded his dismissal and contract termination through his personal channel, "Romario TV".
The media outlet Foot Mercato quoted Romario saying: "I would tear up his contract. After the match, I would go to the locker room as the president and say: 'Well, thank you very much, goodbye, go to hell. File a lawsuit against him and we will see what happens.'"
He added: "There is no way for Ancelotti to remain the coach of the Brazilian national team after this disgrace he caused. I told you this in the last three episodes and I will repeat it here. This is unacceptable; it must change. It cannot continue like this, damn it!"
Romario continued: "We had Dunga, who lost and left. We had Felipão (Scolari), who won the Cup and stayed. We had Tite, who lost, stayed, and lost again. And now we have this damned Ancelotti, who lost and will continue."
It is noted that Ancelotti, the former Real Madrid coach, has a contract with the Brazilian Football Confederation that extends until 2030.
