After Sensitive Meeting, Beirut Municipality Launches Campaign to Remove Encroachments in Al-Khandak Al-Ghamiq
Following a sensitive meeting with political figures, the Beirut Municipality launched a field campaign in Al-Khandak Al-Ghamiq to remove encroachments and violations.

Beirut Mayor Ibrahim Zaydan met with MP Mohammad Khawja, a member of the "Development and Liberation" bloc, and Bassam Talis, head of the Central Municipal and Electoral Affairs Office in the Amal Movement. The discussion focused on the file of encroachments and violations in the capital.
According to a statement, the meeting witnessed frank discussions about the necessity of putting an end to various forms of encroachments. It was confirmed that the Amal Movement's position rejects any violations committed by individuals affiliated with it, and that no political cover will be provided to violators, regardless of their affiliations. The meeting culminated in a field campaign carried out by the Beirut Municipality in the Al-Khandak Al-Ghamiq area, targeting the removal of various forms of encroachments and violations, as a practical step following the discussions held during the meeting.
The statement noted that "what happened reflects a trend towards adopting a different approach in the relationship between political forces and local authorities, based on lifting political cover from violations and facilitating the work of municipal bodies in enforcing the law. The importance of this step remains in its continuity and generalization to various neighborhoods of Beirut, ensuring the protection of public property, organizing the city, and consolidating the principle that the law is applied to everyone without exception."
For his part, Zaydan affirmed that "the campaign will not stop," stressing "the continuation of the municipality's efforts to address encroachments and impose respect for the law in various areas of the capital, without exception."
