Ronaldo Extends Summer Break as Al-Nassr Prepares for New Season

Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, continues his summer break ahead of the 2026–2027 season. His rest period follows nearly one month since Portugal’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Al-Nassr’s Lisbon Camp Concludes Without Ronaldo

Ronaldo did not take part in Al-Nassr’s external training camp held in Lisbon, Portugal, which began on 19 July and concluded on Tuesday. The club confirmed he remained absent to complete his post-World Cup recovery period.

The Al-Nassr delegation is scheduled to return to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday aboard a private aircraft following the conclusion of the more-than-two-week-long camp.

Short Break Before Domestic Preseason Begins

Upon arrival in Riyadh, players will receive only 24 hours of rest before resuming training on Friday at Dar Al-Nassr Stadium in the Saudi capital.

However, Ronaldo will remain absent from those sessions as well, continuing his extended leave that commenced after the World Cup ended.

Ronaldo’s participation in the 2026 World Cup concluded on 6 July, when Portugal lost 1–0 to Spain in the Round of 16. His vacation has now approached one month in duration.

Season Launch Looms Amid Title Defenses

The new Saudi Pro League season begins in 10 days, on 15 August, with Al-Nassr opening their campaign against Al-Fateh in Matchday One.

Under Ronaldo’s leadership, Al-Nassr aims to retain the Saudi Pro League title they won last season — their first league championship in seven years — and secure their inaugural AFC Champions League Elite trophy.
